energiabook.gr puts climate at the heart of energy developments

2 min read

Would you like to know more about the real cost of LNG, the Vertical Gas Corridor, the Emissions Trading System (ETS), or Europe’s and Greece’s methane emissions and regulations? Do you have questions about the progress of renewable energy sources (RES) or the importance of energy communities and bottlenecks in their advancement? Are you interested in the scientific evidence on the environmental impacts of fossil fuels? Energiabook.gr is here for you.

At a time when energy decisions have a dramatic impact on the cost of living, the economy, energy security, and the effort to stop the climate crisis, the need for reliable information is more urgent than ever. At the same time, misinformation and misleading narratives surrounding the necessary transition to a renewable energy-based system often cloud public debate. energiabook.gr aims to fill a significant information gap: the need for an independent, evidence-based, and climate-focused perspective on energy developments.

Energiabook.gr is a new digital platform that monitors, analyzes, and explains developments in the energy sector through the lens of the climate crisis and the energy transition. Its goal is to provide journalists, researchers, citizens, decisionmakers, and civil society organizations with reliable information and data that are often missing from public discourse.

Large energy projects, investments in new fossil fuel projects, new gas infrastructure, and geopolitical developments are often presented as purely technical or economic issues, without sufficient consideration of their long-term environmental and social consequences. Energiabook.gr poses a critical question: How are today’s energy developments shaping the transition to climate neutrality, lower greenhouse gas emissions and the pathway to a sustainable and socially just energy system?

The platform brings together news, research, analysis, official documents, and data, offering a “climate filter” for energy-related current affairs. It operates according to principles of editorial independence and scientific integrity, free from advertising and financial dependence on energy companies. The initiative is supported by a Scientific Advisory Board comprising scientists and experts from diverse fields related to energy, climate, and the environment.

On behalf of the creators of energiabook.gr, Vaso Kotroni states: “We created the energiabook.gr platform with the aim of highlighting how energy decisions are connected to the climate crisis, the environment, the economy, and society. Our goal is to make scientific knowledge and data accessible to everyone, contributing to an informed, evidence-based, and meaningful public dialogue about our energy future.”

Energiabook.gr is available at: https://energiabook.gr/ and will be continuously updated with new data, analyses, and investigative content on energy, climate, and the policies shaping the energy future of Greece and the wider region.
